An image can look convincing and still leave questions about where it came from. AIScan’s image detector adds one signal to that review. Keep the original file and its source alongside the result.
Before You Start
Image detection requires Pro access. The web tool accepts one JPEG, PNG or WebP image at a time, up to 3 MB.
Have the image saved on your device before starting. This flow uses a file picker; it does not accept an image URL or capture a photo from your camera. GIF and HEIC files are not supported by the web scanner.
If you need to convert or resize a file, keep the original separately and remember which version you scanned. A report describes the submitted file.
Choose and Check the Image
- Open the AI Image Detector.
- Select Click to Choose an Image and choose your file.
- Check the preview and filename to confirm it is the right image.
- Select Scan Image and wait for the result.
Selecting a different image clears the old result. This helps keep the report associated with the file currently shown in the preview.
Read the Confidence Result
The Confidence AI Generated gauge shows the provider’s assessment. A label describes the image as likely AI generated or likely a real image.
Neither label is proof. A result does not establish who created an image, whether someone edited it, or whether the image’s caption is accurate. Use it alongside the image’s origin and any other available evidence.
Generator Likelihood appears only when the processing provider returns that information. Treat any named generator as another estimate, rather than a confirmed creation history. Its absence is not a guarantee that no generator was used.
Look at the Source
Ask where the image first appeared, who supplied it, and whether the surrounding claim can be checked independently. A real photograph can still be presented with a misleading description.
For a review you may need to revisit, record the source address or context separately. AIScan’s score does not replace that evidence.
Keep the File and Report Together
Completed scans can appear in Scan History. Image history stores the filename and report, not the uploaded image itself. Keep your original file if you need to review it again.
Signed-in history belongs to your AIScan account; guest history stays in the browser. iPhone versions with Account sign-in share recent reports when you use the same account. Original image files stay on the device. A subscription connection code alone does not synchronize history.
If the Scan Does Not Complete
Check that the file is JPEG, PNG or WebP and no larger than 3 MB. Confirm that your account has Pro access. Read any processing error before trying again; a temporary provider or network problem may require another attempt later.
For text rather than images, start with how to read your AIScan result.
