AIScan returns an AI score and, when available, flagged passages. This guide covers supported inputs, reading the result, and saving or reopening a scan.
Prepare Your Text
Open the AI Text Detector and paste the passage you want to check. You can also upload a .txt or .md file up to 100 KB. PDF upload is not supported by the web text detector.
Check the text before starting. Make sure the passage is complete and belongs to the document you intended to review. Keep a copy of the original so you can compare it with the submitted version later.
| Access | Daily Text Scans | Characters per Scan |
|---|---|---|
| Guest | 2 | 50–2,000 |
| Free Account | 5 | 50–2,000 |
| Pro | Unlimited | 50–20,000 |
These are character limits, including spaces, rather than word limits. A file can meet the upload size limit and still contain too many characters for your plan.
Run the Scan
- Paste your text or upload the document.
- Review the text and character count in the input panel.
- Select Scan for AI and wait for the result.
- Confirm that Words Scanned is consistent with the passage you submitted.
If a scan fails, read the message before retrying. A short passage needs more text; an oversized passage needs to be shortened or split into meaningful sections. A temporary processing error may require another attempt later.
Understand the AI Score
The score expresses the detector’s assessment of the submitted content. It does not establish authorship, intent, or whether a particular use of AI was permitted.
A higher score is a reason to look more closely, not a finding by itself. A lower score is not proof that no AI assistance was used. Avoid treating the number as the exact proportion of words written by AI.
Use the result to choose your next question, rather than to skip the review.
Read Sentence Analysis in Context
When passage-level information is returned, Sentence Analysis shows flagged text in a separate panel. The report may not provide a separate assessment for every sentence.
Read the original passage around each flag. Check quotations, standardized wording, technical language and the argument being made. Ask whether the wording is supported by the source material and whether the author can explain their reasoning.
If you are reviewing someone else’s work, drafts, notes and a conversation about the writing process can provide evidence the score cannot.
Save and Revisit Your Review
Signed-in web results are saved to your account. Scan History lets you search, reopen saved input and output, export results, or delete them. The account retains up to 50 results within a total 4 MB limit; older results can be removed when either limit is exceeded.
Guest results stay in that browser. On iPhone versions with Account sign-in, use the same AIScan account to share recent scans. Existing device history is imported only when you choose to import it. Opening a web history record shows saved content; it does not rebuild the original interactive scanner screen.
For several documents, read the bulk detection guide. For a wider review process, see how to review a draft.
